About Me

My photo
Olathe, Kansas, United States
My name is Rebecca DeMoss-Koeneke and I am originally from Iowa City, Ia, that is why I say I am an Iowa girl at Heart... I have lived in the KC metro area for almost 20 years. Since moving to KC, I married the most wonderful man in the world, Trey. For 3 years, he was a stay at home dad. Which was great for me. But in late 2010 he went back to work. That has been nice too, but required a lot of change on my part... I have two awesome kids. Peyton 7 and Emily 4. And 9 year old Border Collie Lab mix named Sinjin..... This blog will be for me to document several different things.... first of all my goal at a more healthy life. In March of 08 I began a new chapter of my life. I quit some bad habits and started Weight Watchers and working out. March 08 started out at 200lbs. By March 09 I had lost 30 lbs... In September of 09 I ran my first Triathlon. 2. I will also post updates about my family including pictures.... Unfortunately in 2010 I gained a lot of weight back, so 2011 will be another year of getting that weight off. My goal is to loose 30 lbs. Also in 2011 I am going to participate in more tris, dus and half marathons...

It's Official

On Friday I registered for the Heritage Park Duathlon.. .That makes two registrations down and one more to pay for. May 16th is the date for the du and July 31st is the date for the Win for KC women's triathlon......

I really need to get back to running, but had to take the week off for an injury.... I may also try to get to the chiropractor this week. My hip is feeling better, but still can feel the little twinge depending on how I move...

Today is a scheduled brick day, and I am going to make sure I get it in... Supposed to be a 30 minute run at 5K speed and then a 30 minute bike... I am hoping I can do the pace for the run.. Might have to slow it down a bit...... It is only about 39 degrees right now, but supposed to get up to 50+... Might have to do my work out in doors if it doesn't warm up soon.

I have officially done P90 for 6 days and today is my off day.. I am really starting to enjoy it....

First weekend of spring and we have snow

Well, the first weekend of spring started out with 65 degree weather on Friday, then 35 and snow on Saturday... Wow -

I had a great week of training, even had my longest run on a treadmill at 5 miles.. Unfortunately that 5 miles may have caused an injury... Ever since that day, my hip has been hurting and today I could hardly even run a mile... Actually I was ok, until I had to get off to go to the restroom and when I came back, I couldn't run any more....

so I got on the eliptical for the next 45 minutes......

Now I am icing my hip and tomorrow might be another eliptical day... I know I should rest, but I think I will just quit running for a couple of days.....

I will probably go see my chiropractor as well. see what he can do for me.

I have to get better with this

Well, I am not doing as well on this blog as I had hoped and I have nobody to blame but myself....

Since the last time I wrote, I have decided to add in a little P90 into my work out routine... But I am afraid it might be hurting my running. I had a hard time running 4 miles the other day...

Oh well, maybe it was because someone turned up the heat in the gym and I was dying....

I am hoping that this weekend my hubby will fix my bike so that I can start riding outside in the mornings. I am really bored with my basement. And riding in my basement I can only go for about 35 minutes max... More than that and I get bored....

I am really hoping that it will start staying above 40 degrees at night too so I can start running outside. I really miss the fresh air. I honestly don't think about anything when I am running. Gotta love it.....

To end my post tonight, I just want to again request prayers for my friends Carrie and Matt McKay for the loss of their sister and for Davy whose daughter just lost her mother..... May God lift them up during this time of pain and keep them strong. Knowing that she is now in a better place...... RIP Sarah.

It is all about change!!!!

The first time I did weight watchers in March of 2008 I lost 35 lbs... after I went off weight watchers, I slowly gained 15 of those lbs back between January of 09 and December of 09...So in December of 09 I decided to join WW again. However, I have only lost 7 lbs in the last three months. The first 5 was pretty simple, but now I have completely hit a wall.....

So, I think I need to change things up a bit. To start it off I started my 12 week program for my duathlon training....Hopefully that will keep me constant with my weight, but after talking with my hubby I need to change some thing to kick start my weight loss again. So this is what I am going to do......

Today was my last day of caffiene... I am going to continue to drink my diet caffeine coke for a week or two, but if I can do it, I will eliminate pop all together. Except for the casual crown and coke..... That is item 1 and I think it will help me a lot...

The second piece of change goes hand in hand with the first. Instead of drinking pop, I will be drinking water (and flavored enhanced vitamin water) at all times.

The third piece of change also goes along the drinking category, but I am going to do my best to cut out the drinking. I have started drinking at least a glass a night and even though my vanilla vodka was only 2 weight watchers points or about 100 calories, it was still extra calories that I don't need.....

These are the changes that I am making in regard to food/drinking..... The next set is some additional workouts. My training plan calls for working my core and strength training, so I have started, as of today, to add P90 work outs to my daily routine.... I am not going to be able to hit the P90 hard until after my last Triathlon in September, but at least I can start incorporating it now....

Wish me luck and here are a couple of quotes that I am going to remember during my journey to a more healthy life style.....

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts.

The first step toward change is awareness.... The second step is acceptance......

Change is the essence of life..... Be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become.
